Topic:
Science, Medicine, and Technology
Abstract:
Venice Family Clinic contains twenty-five single session interviews with individuals who were prominent in the clinic's history, including founding members, members of the board of directors, medical directors, and physicians. The interviews explore the origins and history of the clinic; the community health issues it has been involved with; and its advocacy efforts, funding, and future. Founded in 1970, the clinic has grown into the largest free clinic in the country. It provides comprehensive primary health care, mental health services, health education, child development services, and public insurance enrollment primarily to low-income patients, many of whom are homeless.
