Series Statement:
This series had its origin in a grant from the University of California Water resources Center in 1965. The project was a joint effort by the UCLA Oral History Program and the Regional Oral History Office, University of California, Berkeley. For some years after the close of the grant period, limited interviewing in this area continued.

Early education in Long Beach; employed by Los Angeles Flood Control District, 1919; history of Los Angeles Flood Control District; first comprehensive flood control plan for Los Angeles County; Montrose flood, 1934; work on construction of San Gabriel Dam, 1925-38; construction of debris basins; flood of 1938; floodwater control and conservation measures; cooperation with United States Army Corps of Engineers; waste disposal problems; sewage reclamation; consulting activities since retirement in 1959.
