The interview was conducted by Clyde Woods, UCLA Oral History Program; B.A., Government, Oberlin College; Master of City and Regional Planning (M.C.R.P.), Morgan State University; Doctoral Candidate, Graduate School of Architecture and Urban Planning, UCLA.Woods prepared for taping sessions by researching extensively in the Augustus Hawkins Papers at the UCLA Department of Special Collections and by reading a draft transcript of a 1988 interview with Hawkins conducted by Carlos Vasquez for the California State Archives State Government Oral History Program.
